Youth and Family Services bakes 933 dozen cookies for their donors

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Youth and Family Services in Rapid City has been in a baking frenzy the past few days — they baked 933 dozen cookies to gift to their donors.

Monday and Tuesday were spent baking cookies, and on Wednesday, the cookies were frosted and decorated with hand dyed sprinkles.

The significance, to thank the 933 donors who supported YFS in 2019.

YFS supports children and families throughout 24 counties in western South Dakota through nine different programs.

“So, the donors who are receiving these cookies are supporting those programs, their supporting those 14,000 kids and families throughout western South Dakota, and this is just a sweet way for us to thank them and tell them that we appreciate their support for supporting those children,” said Brianna Nelson, YFS Communications Coordinator.

YFS has been making Valentines cookies for donors for 22 years and plans to continue the tradition.

Staff members from all nine programs come out to volunteer their time and consider it a labor of love.
