Food is also distributed directly to YFS families, encouraging kids to try foods they might otherwise pass on. YFS Chief Grants Officer Sharon Oney says, “If they’re involved in growing it and preparing it, they will eat it. Whereas before you probably couldn’t pay them to eat some vegetables.” The program utilizes raised bed gardens at several of its sites including the YFS Fullerton Farm in Box Elder. The Adams Street center has an indoor garden to teach hands on classes.
