Part 1: PRCA Xtreme Broncs Finals coming to Central States Fair
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Xtreme Broncs Finals are coming to Rapid City.
The nationally televised event will take place at the Central States Fair on Aug. 22 and will involve the top 24 bronc riders in the world vying for the Xtreme Broncs title and the last big purse before the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
The series features saddle bronc riding, a classic event that evolved from the traditional work of breaking horses. Riders attempt to stay on their horse while being judged for factors like the animal’s bucking action, control and spurring.
Twelve top saddle bronc riders in the PRCA earnings standings and 12 top competitors who have competed in the Xtreme Bronc Tour events will compete in a long go and a short go.
The finals will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $38 for adults and $7 for children. They can be purchased here.
You can find rodeo expert and long-time announcer Jim Thompson’s full interviews with bronc riders below. You can see Part Two of this series here.
