Wyoming bill to help laid off miners moves to conference committee

WYOMING — Legislation intended to help laid off mine workers in Wyoming is headed for a conference committee.

The state senate approved a measure that would earmark half-a-million dollars to mine workers if there’s another round of mass lay offs. But the house narrowly defeated the same measure twice. Members of both houses are expected to meet this week to try to hammer out a compromise.

Senate Majority Leader Ogden Driskill of Devils Tower says it’s designed to provide a safety net.
