World Champion Breakaway Roper signs sponsorship with Monument Health

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Sawyer Gilbert, a world champion breakaway roper from Buffalo, South Dakota, signed a sports sponsorship agreement on Wednesday with Monument Health.

Gilbert was a two-time South Dakota high school state champion breakaway roper in 2017 and 2018.

Gilbert had a phenomenal season last year.

She won major rodeos, such as Cheyenne Frontier Days and the Pendleton Roundup in Oregon.

Plus this past December, she won the Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping World Title.

Gilbert travels around the country and has a grueling schedule.

So she says its important to stay healthy in order to be successful in the rodeo arena.

“Copenhagen is like the cure all is what the steer wrestlers say,” said Sawyer Gilbert. “I always thought that was a major hole for the longevity of people performing. Having a mom that’s in the medical industry and getting to grow up like that. Then getting to be a part of stuff like this, I think it’ll be a really key factor in helping my longevity so I can do this longer.”

“We like to support obviously local athletes that are performing at the top of their game or sport,” said Jim Rix, Southern Hills Manager of Sports Medicine. “Obviously, Sawyer is one of those individuals that has already demonstrated that she’s one of the top in her particular sport. So we’re honored to partner with her and be able to support her as she continues on with her career.”
