Woman shot overnight, Rapid City PD searching for suspect
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City police are looking to identify a suspect involved in an overnight shooting near North Maple Ave. and Anamosa St. that left a woman with a gunshot wound in the arm.
The Rapid City Police Department says officers were called to the area around midnight Friday for reports of multiple gunshots. Three people were found, one of which had a gunshot wound on her arm. The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
After interviewing the three subjects, police say they reported an unknown vehicle pulled up to the intersection and began firing multiple rounds after a verbal exchange.
According to a press release from the RCPD, “several detectives worked through the night to investigate the circumstances of this crime but at this time, the identity of the shooter is unknown.”
Police say descriptions of the suspect car are inconsistent but the suspect in the driver’s seat is described as a Native American male in his 30’s or 40’s.
Lt. Mark Eisenbraun with criminal investigations says it’s too early to say whether this is a random act or not. “We are still actively following up on leads,” said Eisenbraun.
