Woman sentenced 20 years for meth distribution

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A Colorado woman was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in Rapid City.

50-year-old Cathy Wells from Colorado Springs, Colorado was sentenced Tuesday by Chief Judge Jeffrey Vilken. Wells was initially indicted by a federal grand jury on June 19 of last year and plead guilty to the charges on January 4, 2019. Wells will have five years of supervised release when she is released from federal prison.

Wells received the meth from a Colorado supplier, who is currently waiting on sentencing and trial in Rapid City.

After sentencing, Wells was handed over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
