Woman killed in Spearfish Canyon rollover crash

SPEARFISH, S.D. – A 57-year-old woman died Wednesday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash southwest of Spearfish.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the woman failed to negotiate a left-hand turn while traveling southbound near mile marker 27 on U.S. Highway 14A. The pickup truck went off the roadway and hit several trees.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. She died as a result of her injuries.

The name of the person involved is not being released, pending notification of family.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
