Winter Market – Third Time is a Charm
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Over 100 vendors gathered at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for the Winter Market. Shoppers got a chance to see a myriad of products small businesses in the Black Hills had to offer.
This is year three for the annual event whose primary goal is to funnel funds into the pockets of local businesses who need it the most. Organizers say shopping at the Winter Market fulfills two goals.
“You’re giving really creative gifts, fun, personal gifts to your family while you’re supporting a small business owner and that support means the world to somebody who is setup behind me,” said owner of RW Events, Rachelle White.
Events like the Winter Market can often times be the big money makers for businesses who could otherwise go under, especially going through the pandemic.
For other businesses, taking part is about putting a face to the name.
“Events like this gets us back in front of the people. It lets people see our products, touch, taste, puts a face to the small business and it’s word of mouth,” said Felix “Sauce Boss” Irving, Owner of Beard-BQ. “Word of mouth spreads and people are loyal and I like coming to these events”
Organizers say there was more foot traffic this year than last year. The next event is the holiday market which will take place on December 19 at the Fairgrounds.
