Wind causes truck rollover crash on I-29

LINCOLN COUNTY, S.D. — Authorities in Lincoln County responded to a rollover on I-29 near mile marker 68 this week.

The crash happened on Monday evening. A truck driver experienced severe cross winds in a storm and began hydroplaning, according to a Facebook post from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

This caused him to lose control, enter the median and roll.

Officials say he was wearing a seat belt and fortunately did not report any injuries.

“The driver of the truck wanted to thank the Good Samaritans who stopped to help him get out of his vehicle,” the LCSO wrote in its post.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol, Worthing Fire and Rescue and Lennox Ambulance all responded to the crash.
