Western Dakota Tech hosts career fair

RAPID CITY, S.D. — About 50 employers from around the region took part in a career fair at the event center on the Western Dakota Tech campus, with a wide range of fields represented.

With the job market as competitive as it is opportunities, such as Wednesday’s career fair, give students a chance to get their resumes out without conflicting with their schedule.

“It’s early in what we call hiring season, so they can get some connections made get some offers before they graduate in May. With the employment rate what it is this is the time, people snatched are up early. So it’s competitive to get our talent so this is good timing for the employers.” said Shandra Calvert, Director for Industry Relations & Grant Management.

The career fair is an equally beneficial opportunity for the employers, giving them a pool of potential employees trained in wide array of skills. Western Dakota Tech currently has a 98% rate for its graduates.
