Western Dakota Tech celebrates its first satellite campus

WHITEWOOD, S.D. – Western Dakota Tech hosted a ribbon cutting for its new satellite campus in Whitewood.

The Whitewood Economic Development Organization partnered with the tech school and the Lawrence County Commission to make it happen.

All involved organizations saw the opportunity for growth in the community. The campus will assist in work force development in the area and expand educational opportunities throughout the hills.

For now, the campus will be a branch of WDT’s license practical nursing program, but the long -term plan, is to expand and bring in more programs in the future.

“I think that there are lots of opportunities for people in this area to just get connected with Western Dakota Tech, and for us to get connected with employers,” says WDT president, Dr. Ann Bolman.

The Whitewood campus will be home to around 16 students and two to three instructors. Classes will begin in January of 2021.
