Meteorologist Erik Dean breaks down Saturday's severe weather across the state
This Day in History: On May 8th, 1888: The Rapid City Weather Service was established and began taking daily weather observations.
Good morning everyone, WOW! What a day Saturday. I literally mean this when I say this statement; you could literally split the state at the river, and have two different weather stories.
As a matter of fact, here are the three reports. There were two in Brown county, and one in Spink County.
In terms of hail, quarter sized hail was reported in Gettysburg, as well as, Tolstoy.
The big winner was Buffalo, WY at 76 MPH. Rapid City and Pine Ridge reported 47 MPH, everyone else with the exception of Faith, saw gusts in the 30s & 40s.
In terms of temperature, much cooler today as compared to Saturday. We had a high of 84 in Rapid City, and today we’ll drop to the upper 60s with low 60s in North Central Wyoming and 70s from Faith down to Pine Ridge.
Enjoy your Sunday!
