Ways to adopt or foster children
RAPID CITY, S.D. – For those interested in adoption there are several ways to do it. You can go through the state, starting with foster care, which often leads to adoption. You can also go through an agency.
Catholic Social Services works with families looking to start or expand their family via adoption. Families start with an informational session and if interested they go from there
Catholic Social Services partners with multiple agencies to link families; working both domestically and internationally.
Depending on the route you take adoption can be quite affordable, typically starting around $2,000 and going up to $40,000.
Families can take out loans to adopt or even fundraiser for those more expensive agencies.
“Adoption is an incredible journey and I think we really need to recognize those birth parents who are making those decisions and the fact that this is a collaboration between them and those adoptive parents so that they can all meet the needs of that child,” said Catholic Social Services, director of family service Nora Boesem.
