WATCH: Timelapse of fog rolling into Rapid City Monday Morning
Easterly winds always makes things more interesting in the eastern foothills regardless of the season, but winter features a flurry of different weather conditions under these circumstances.
Monday morning, dense fog was the catch of the day as easterly winds forced moist air mass to rise and condense, leading to a layered birthday-cake effect clouds moving in different directions at different altitudes. These layers are always there, but this morning it was clearly visible, and cool to look at in my professional opinion.
More of these displays are likely over the next 48 hours.
