WATCH: Mountain lions caught on camera in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Mountain lions have been seen once again in Rapid City.

Security footage given to NewsCenter1 shows a trio of mountain lions exploring the front porch of a residence in the vicinity of M Hill.

Mountain lions in the Black Hills are not uncommon, and authorities urge those exploring the outdoors to be aware of their surroundings and listen for movement nearby.

South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Wildlife Conservation Officer Chris Dekker says that “If you do come across a mountain lion, make yourself as big as possible, be loud, don’t turn and run away, because that’s what prey does, you want to make yourself big, make yourself a threat.”

He adds – they don’t want to deal with you as much as you don’t want to deal with them.
