WATCH: High Winds spark concerns for wildfires, high profile vehicles

 

RAPID CITY, S.D — High winds are already making their way through the area out of the WSW this morning.

These winds are expected to switch to the Northwest later this morning, gusting up to 75+ MPH North and East of the Black Hills.With relative humidity values in the teens, critical fire conditions are a distinct concern over the next 24 hours.

An air quality alert for Rapid City has also been issued by the National Weather Service in Rapid City.

Winds are expected to briefly subside this evening before picking back up by Tuesday afternoon, although diminished.
