Wags and Waves fundraiser exceeds it’s fundraising goal

RAPID CITY, S.D. — You get more than 200 dogs and their owners in a big swimming pool, and you get a lot of money.

The Humane Society of the Black Hills hosted it’s annual Wags and Waves fundraiser on Monday at the Jimmy Hilton Pool in Rapid City.

The goal was to raise $5,000, but donors were so generous, they more than doubled the $3,000 raised in 2019. Like a chihuahua compared to a great dane.

“For Wags and Waves 2021, the total final number was just over $6,300, so that was an incredible amount,” said Caitlin Ausmann of the Humane Society of the Black Hills. “Once we got it all tallied up, we were shocked and it was very very exciting to see. We love that our community was able to come together, have some fun, all for a good cause.”

All proceeds are used by the Humane Society for its most urgent needs, with all of the money staying local.
