Vote for Fork Real Community Cafe and help them win a $25,000 grant

RAPID CITY, S. D. – Fork Real Community Cafe is eligible to win a $25,000 grant from State Farm Neighborhood Assist.

Start Farm Neighborhood Assist will be awarding $2.5 million dollars in grants.

Communities across the United States were asked to submit causes that would make an impact on their community.  State Farm received four thousand submissions. The State Farm Review Committee chose the top 200 finalists. State Farm will award 100 $25,000 grants to the causes with the most votes. Three organizations from South Dakota, made the cut. Volunteers of America, Dakotas and The Banquet, both from Sioux Falls and Fork Real Community Cafe from Rapid City.

Fork Real Community Cafe plans to use the funds, if they win, for their Put A Fork In It project according to their submission to State Farm. Fork Real Community Cafe was designed to build community through food and conversation.

Recognizing the need for food security in our area, Executive Director Rhonda Pearcy is focused completely on helping our community. Fork Real Cafe provides an opportunity for anyone to dine in dignity with access to healthy meals. The Cafe also supports families that foster kids and maintains a mini-food bank accessible to anyone.

A team of regular staff and volunteers have gifted over 10,000 meals to families in an effort to reduce hunger. With over 50,000 volunteer hours recorded, Percy’s team is passionate about making a positive impact on the community. A $25,000 grant would help continue this mission to making a lasting impact by providing access to healthy meals, supporting families with foster kids, and maintaining a mini-food bank.

Voting is open now and will end at 11:59 p.m. on May 6 (EST). Voters are allowed 10 votes per day.
