Volunteers of America prep for “Empty Bowl” fundraiser
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Volunteers of America will hosts their fifth annual “Empty Bowl” event in Rapid City this Thursday.
The popular, family-friendly fundraiser allows community members to sample a variety of 30 soups from around Rapid City. The money raised during the event stays local.
“The money is going to go and stay right here in the Black Hills for our Community Outreach Team, and so what we do is we have programs like Mommy’s Closet and housing assistance, food boxes, all the types of things that we do for young families,” says Kelly Folsom, the Development Director for Volunteers of America.
Empty Bowl runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Central States Fairground’s Fine Arts Building.
