Vision Fund proposals go to next step
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Proposals for Rapid City Vision Fund projects have been completed. Now, the selection process will enter its next step.
Twenty-two groups made proposals before the Vision Fund citizen committee this week. The proposals requested $28,712,823 in funding. The Vision Fund has $18 million to disburse over the next three years.
The citizen committee listened carefully to each proposal. However, committee members have made no early judgments as they prepare to break into working groups to debate and discuss the merits of each proposal.
“All of the projects are worthy projects,” said George Grassby, chairman of the Vision Fund citizen committee. “What we do is we listen to everybody. We don’t make initial impressions. What we do is we have working meetings over the next few weeks and then make our recommendation to the City Council.”
The citizen committee will present its recommendations to the Rapid City Common Council on Jan. 31. The council will then make the final decisions on Vision Fund awards.
