Victims identified in recent Rapid City fatal shootings

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police Assistant Chief Scott Sitts says they are now able to release the names of the two people killed in separate shooting incidents earlier this week.

19-year-old Jayden Russell of Rapid City was killed on Sunday, November 28 at a residence in the 400 block of Tamarack Drive. RCPD is still investigating the shooting and no arrests have been made in the case at this time.

20-year-old Nova Alexander of Rapid City was killed Monday, November 29 in a shooting on Marquette Drive. Two other individuals received serious but non-life threatening injuries. 22-year-old Jesse Schmockel of Kyle was arrested on Tuesday and charged with one count manslaughter and two counts aggravated assault related to the Marquette Drive incident.
