Very High Winds expected Wednesday evening through Friday in the Black Hills

Downed trees, downed power lines and even temporary blowing snow in the higher elevations are a possibility
From Meteorologist Brant Beckman:
“A High Wind Warning goes into effect this evening for the entire Black Hills Region. We already have reports of blown over trucks and high profile vehicles being blown off the road in Montana.
125 mph wind gust reported on the west face of Mt. Sentinel (~5050 feet) in Western Montana at 1045 am MST via the NWS in Missoula, Montana. 70-80 MPH wind gusts have already been recorded in the central plains of Montana.
  • 70-80 MPH wind gusts likely for the Black Hills Region – starting 4-8 pm through early Friday. 50-60 MPH wind gusts for the higher elevations.
  • High profile vehicles should use extreme caution if travelling across the plains through Friday morning.
  • Downed trees, downed power lines and even temporary blowing snow in the higher elevations are a possibility. This is a *long-term* wind event – and so wildfire 🔥 concerns are also extremely high. Use an abundance of caution with this powerful wind event, be smart.”
