Vendor with Lawrence Co. Sheriff’s Office tests positive for COVID-19

DEADWOOD, S.D. – A vendor with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a news release Thursday night, officials say no correctional officers or inmates have tested positive for the virus. Lawrence County officials did not specify when the person tested positive or clarify the extent of the potential exposure to staff.

“The safety of all our staff and those that we have charge over are among our highest concern and priority,” said the release. “The Sheriff and staff are closely monitoring the situation and all appropriate precautions are being observed.”

If the vendor is a Lawrence County resident, this would be the first COVID-19 case in the county.

This is a developing story. NewsCenter1 will continue to update this article with more information.
