Vendor fair shows mall alive and kicking

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The parking lots were full at the Rushmore Mall Saturday afternoon.

Visitors to the fair look at one vendor’s offerings.

Forty entrepreneurs from the Rapid City area converged on the central concourse of the mall for the Fall Harvest Fest Vendor Fair. They were selling everything from beauty products to purses to clothing.

The event also featured bouncy castles so the entire family could get involved.

With the Rushmore Mall recently experiencing the shock of the closure of two of its four anchors, the fair was a way to remind people that the mall is still very much open for business.

“I’m really hoping to help the community realize that the Rushmore Mall is still a place to come and shop,” said Rachelle White, coordinator for the vendor fair. “It’s still a place to bring your family and to spend time and money here.”

White says it’s a chance to give back to your local community.

Two more vendor fairs at the mall are planned this year. One will be on Black Friday and the following Saturday (Nov. 23 and 24). The other will be Dec. 15.
