Vaccine clinic at The Monument gives participants a gift with their vaccine

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A free vaccine clinic was held in Rapid City Thursday, giving participants a chance to walk away with a little extra spending money.

The Black Hills Area Community Foundation and Monument Health hosted a free clinic in LaCroix Hall at The Monument for those still needing to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

Attendees received the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

And thanks to an initial donation from Black Hills Area Community Foundation founding member Stan Adelstein, $100 Visa gift cards were given to some of the participants.

Adelstein made the donation in celebration of his 90th birthday and to help get people vaccinated.

“He did 90 gift cards to start with the donation, and then Dave Davis came in with a donation to do another 30, and Stan decided to do another 30 more,” said Black Hills Area Community Foundation Donor Relations Manager Chris Huber.

The gift cards were given out on a first come, first serve basis.

The clinic ran until 8 p.m. Thursday evening, and 108 total people attending the free vaccine clinic.
