UPDATE: one killed in car versus pedestrian crash on Omaha Street
(UPDATE 12/29/20 8 P.M.): The pedestrian has been identified as a woman who had walked into the roadway and did not have the right of way, police examined nearby surveillance footage which corroborated witness statements.
(UPDATE 12/29/20 6 P.M.): Patrol Division Commander James Johns of the RCPD stated that they received a call just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday of a crash involving one vehicle and a pedestrian on the 1100 block of Omaha Street.
The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported for the driver. RCPD is investigating the incident along with the Critical Accident Reconstruction Team (CART).
The area will be closed for a lengthy amount of time, so citizens are asked to avoid the area. NewsCenter1 will provide updates as they become available.
