UPDATE: Authorities find Rapid City woman

UPDATE: Truax has been found safe Saturday night by Pennington County Sheriff’s deputies. The search that was aided by the Custer, Lawrence, and Pennington County Search and Rescue took 14 hours to locate Truax.

PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. — Law enforcement agencies are looking for a missing Rapid City woman that was last seen on Friday, April 3 at 10:30 p.m.

Tama Truax was last seen in the area of Sawmill Road and Sheridan Lake Road. She is as white female that’s six feet tall and weighs 155 pounds. She has brown eyes and blonde hair, and was wearing a gray North Face jacket with a fur hood, dark gray sweat pants and brown boots.

Truax suffers from mental health issues including depression. She may be suicidal and have a handgun. If you see this person, do not approach and instead contact the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office at (605) 394-6115.

Pennington County Search and Rescue started looking for Truax around 4 a.m. and have deployed K9 units while using a drone with heat sensing capabilities.

The family members of the 61-year-old Tama Truax are concerned for her safety.
