United Way of the Black Hills is at 75% of their overall 2020-2021 fundraising campaign goal

The United Way of the Black Hills still needs to reach their end goal. They have hope, with the help of a donor offering to match donations until Dec. 31st.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — United Way of the Black Hills helps out nearly 50 nonprofit organizations throughout the Black Hills, but they are struggling to make their goal this year.

They are at 75% of their fundraising campaign,  and have about 500,000 dollars left to raise in just four days.

There is some good news though, a donor has offered to double donations to United Way until the end of this year – up to 200,000 dollars.

Jamie Toennies, Executive Director at United Way of the Black Hills, says, “Our nonprofits and our community members are so reliant on these dollars to help them improve their lives,  so we really want to push to hit our goal. You know, last year at this time we were at 89%, so we are pretty far down from where we normally are this time of year.”

All money raised until December 31st will be helping twice as much. 100% of donations stay in the local community.

Toennies goes on to say, “We raise over two million dollars a year, but that is really through donations of $5 here, $25 here or $100 here; that is the beauty of our community and the Black Hills, that everybody comes together, does what they can, and it all adds up to a tremendous amount – which makes a huge deal in people’s lives.”
