United flight makes unexpected landing in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – United Express flight 5101  made an unexpected landing at Rapid City Regional Airport early Monday morning.

The original flight, operated through SkyWest Airlines, was scheduled from Jamestown, North Dakota to Denver.

According to a SkyWest statement, the flight was diverted due to a “mechanical indication.”

“The flight landed safely and passengers deplaned normally at the gate. Passengers continued to Denver on a different aircraft.”

A full emergency response team was ordered but canceled upon the safe landing.
