U.S. House approves articles of impeachment against President Trump
UPDATE 6:42 P.M. MST — The United States House of Representatives has voted to approve the second article of impeachment against President Donald Trump, which alleges obstruction of Congress.
The two articles of impeachment will now be forwarded to the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate, where the President will stand trial on the allegations.
That trial is expected to take place early in the new year.
6:30 P.M. MST —The United States House of Representatives has voted to impeach President Donald Trump on the first article of impeachment — alleging an abuse of power.
As expected, the vote was almost entirely along party lines.
Not a single Republican representative voted for the first article of impeachment.
Only 2 Democrats voted against.
The house is currently voting on the second article of impeachment, which alleges that the president obstructed congress during the house of representatives’ impeachment investigation.
