Two weeks left for early primary voting

STURGIS, S.D.-  The deadline to register to vote in the South Dakota primaries has expired.

But you can still partake in early voting. The deadline to register was 5 PM Monday, two weeks before the primaries.

If you have any concerns about whether you’re registered, a good place to check is the Secretary of State’s website and the Voter Information Portal

The portal will also tell you where to go to vote. Early voting will be open at your county auditors office until primary day June 7th. For anyone mailing-in their ballot, it’s a good idea to have them in the mailbox early so that you have a few days buffer.

The Meade County Auditor encourages everyone to get out and vote this primary.

Meade County Auditor Helen Hall Jensen says, “You want to make a change, change starts at home. And so I encourage people to really get out and vote in the primary election. This is your point, to have a voice, have a say in who you would like to be running our community or government.”

Registration to vote in the November General Election is open until October 24th.
