UPDATE: one person killed in two-vehicle collision in Box Elder

UPDATE (1:09 p.m.) – At 11:29 a.m., authorities received a call for a report of a two-vehicle accident.

A pickup that was heading northbound on N. Elk Vale Rd was involved in an accident with a smaller passenger vehicle that was traveling eastbound on N. Mall Drive.

According to witnesses, the passenger vehicle ran a stop sign and collided with the pickup, causing it to roll. The driver of the pickup is deceased.

A total of three people were involved; two in the pickup and one in the passenger car. The other two people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

All information was confirmed by Sgt. Warren Poches of the RCPD.


BOX ELDER, S.D. — Rapid City Police and Fire crews are on the scene of a two vehicle accident that took place at the intersection of Elk Vale Road and East Mall Drive in Box Elder around 12:00 p.m.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area while crews clear the intersection of debris.
