Two people arrested after fleeing from Rapid City police

The driver now facing a list of charges

An early morning pursuit in north Rapid City ended after the driver lost control on icy roads.

Around 5:20 Monday morning, police attempted to stop a Pontiac Grand Am near the intersection of Haines Ave. and Lindbergh Ave. because of a burned out headlight but the vehicle did not stop and continued east on Lindbergh Ave.

The vehicle pursuit came to an end in the 1400 block of N. 7th Street when the driver spun out, but a foot pursuit ensued.

The only two occupants were taken into custody and identified as the driver, Laycie Williams, 22, of Williston, ND and passenger, Ransom Whitelance, 21, of Rapid City.

Williams was found with a syringe that field-tested positive for methamphetamine and charged with eluding, obstruction, possession of a controlled substance, ingestion of a controlled substance, no driver’s license, over-driving road conditions, and a probation hold.

Whitelance was arrested and charged for obstruction and a probation hold.

The two were transported to the Pennington County Jail.
