UPDATE: Driver facing meth, gun charges following high speed crash

UPDATE: (12/14/2020 @1:36 p.m.) — One driver is facing criminal meth and firearm charges following a multi-vehicle crash in Rapid City Monday morning.

At around 11:10 a.m., an SUV was traveling west at a high rate of speed on W. Main Street, and attempted to turn left on to Jackson Boulevard and lost control of the vehicle.

The SUV rear-ended a minivan at the intersection and then rolled into the parking lot of Tire Muffler and Alignment, located at 1811 W. Main, where it collided with another vehicle that was parked and unoccupied.

According to RCPD Spokesperson Brendyn Medina, when authorities came into contact with the driver of the SUV, they found a gun and meth in the vehicle. The driver was transported to the hospital with serious injures. Criminal charges including traffic violations, possession of meth and possession of a firearm in commission of felony are pending.

The driver of the minivan was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation is still on-going.


RAPID CITY, S.D. — Two individuals were taken to the hospital following a two vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and  W. Main Street around noon on Monday.

Multiple authorities responded to the crash including: The Rapid City Fire Department, Rapid City Police Department and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
