Two area businesses fail alcohol compliance check

PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. — Eleven county businesses were tested by an alcohol compliance check conducted by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office last week.

On October 24, the PCSO visited 11 businesses that sold alcohol in Rapid City and Box Elder. Of the 11 businesses, employees at two businesses were caught selling alcohol to underage informants with the sheriff’s office. The businesses found in violation were the Corner Pantry on Highway 44, Rapid City and the Yes Way on Box Elder Road, Box Elder.

Employees at both businesses were issued a citation for selling alcohol to an underage person. Supplying alcohol to a minor is a class 2 misdemeanor that is punishable by 30 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.
