Turkey Bowling event benefits Black Hills Toys for Tots
RAPID CITY S.D. – With the holidays upon us, a group in Rapid City spent Sunday playing with their food for a good cause.
Staff with the Homeslice Media Group hosted a turkey bowling toy drive at Murphy’s Pub and Grill, which benefited Toys for Tots of the Black Hills. Butterball headquarters in North Carolina donated 25 turkeys to Homeslice and they wanted to give them back to the community.
People could donate a toy then try their hand at tossing the turkey. Though rolling a frozen turkey into makeshift pins sounds easy in theory, organizers say that’s not always the case.
“The turkey doesn’t ever seem to go in the direction you want it to go,” said Crissy Davies, the public service director for Homeslice. “We’ve got water bottles that are set up as pins and the turkey is your ball.”
Those who got a strike received a turkey. But thankfully, they received a fresh one that wasn’t rolled on the ground.
