Trial date set for Rapid City teen charged with 2018 murder

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City teen accused of murder has trial dates set.

17-year-old Ronald Black Cloud is charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of Nathan Graham, 43, of Rapid City in 2018.

In court Monday, 7th Circuit Court Judge Matt Brown set trial to begin the week of Sept. 27, pending any potential plea deal with the state.

Black Cloud’s case was moved to adult court earlier this year after lengthy back and forth discussion on whether or not the case should stay in juvenile court or not.

Also charged in the case is 19-year-old Ross Johnson. Johnson was sentenced Thursday to 20 years for being an accessory to murder and aggravated assault.

Police were called to a home in August 2018 on East Philadelphia for a report of a man being shot. Graham was found and taken to the hospital where he later died. Throughout the investigation, police said Johnson got in an altercation with Graham and gave his gun to Black Cloud.
