Travel Rally Day highlights the work of local tourism industry

RAPID CITY, SD — Travel and tourism industry leaders were recognized Tuesday night at the Hotel Alex Johnson for their contributions to the community.

To mark National Travel and Tourism Week, Visit Rapid City held its Travel Rally Day highlighting the hard work of the people and businesses who spur the tourism economy.

Even amidst the growth in the state’s tourism sector, industry leaders are leery about labor shortages.

“Its something were keeping out eye on,” says Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Tourism Jim Hagen, “and brainstorming on what are some things we can do at the state department to spur some interest from younger workers, from high school aged and maybe even junior high school aged into college aged students”

Several leaders and organizations received awards for their service to the Rapid City community.
