Traffic diverted due to Rapid City structure fire

UPDATE (8:15 a.m.):  Crews were called to a structure fire in the 1400 block of 5th Street at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

When they arrived on scene they noticed a 40′ x 40′ single family home showing moderate smoke coming from the front and back of the house.

The fire was mostly confined to one room, but did spread to the hallway and attic. There is significant damage to the home.

At one point the north bound traffic on 5th Street was being re-routed.

No one was injured and the fire remains under investigation.

Crews that responded were: Truck 1, Squad 1, Med 1, Truck 3, Engine 4 and BC1. A family was displaced and the Red Cross was notified.


RAPID CITY, S.D. — Emergency crews have diverted traffic away from a structure fire on the 1400 block of 5th Street.

Northbound traffic is being diverted at St Cloud Street and southbound traffic is reduced to one lane.
