Tractor driver seriously injured in crash

KADOKA, S.D. — One person has been seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor occurred Wednesday morning.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash happened about 21 miles south of Kadoka. The tractor was traveling south on SD 73 down a hill when a pickup truck crested the same hill the tractor was on, running into the rear end.

The driver of the tractor received serious injuries after they were thrown into the ditch. The pickup driver only received minor injury from the crash.

Highway Patrol Troopers worked with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Oglala Sioux Tribe law enforcement in responding to the crash.

Authorities are reminding the public to always be alert when traveling over hills in rural areas.
