TRACK & FIELD: Spearfish boys capture Black Hills Conference title
Spearfish and Custer girls tie for first for the Black Hills Conference title
BOX ELDER, S.D. – There is a tremendous amount of talent in the Black Hills when it comes to track and field.
In fact, several local athletes are expected to bring home some hardware from the state track and field championships which are set to begin on May 26 in Sioux Falls.
But Friday, many local athletes competed at the Black Hills Conference Track and Field Championships at Douglas High School in Box Elder.
When it was all said it done, the Spearfish boys won the Black Hills Conference title for the second year in a row.
Meanwhile, the Spearfish and Custer girls tied for the top spot in the Black Hills Conference.
Spearfish was initially awarded the BHC trophy. But since javelin is only sanctioned in Class AA, that event didn’t count in the final team standings. So Spearfish and Custer were declared co-champions.
