Tornadoes, hail confirmed from overnight storms
The NWS has confirmed a tornado touched down near Moorcroft, WY and near Vetal, SD
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Two tornadoes are confirmed from storms Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, one in eastern Wyoming and a second in southern South Dakota. Strong winds and hail plagued the region as well.
Footage of a tornado west of Moorcroft, Wyoming was captured by several people in the local area.
A second tornado was seen to briefly touch down roughly 9 miles northwest of Vetal, South Dakota just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Strong winds were reported in the southwestern part of South Dakota. 70 mph winds were reported 10 miles west of Edgemont and 60 mph winds were reported four miles northwest of Argyle. Both reports were between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.
In Jackson County, 81 mph wind gusts were reported and across the state heavy winds damaged a number of structures and downed trees in several areas, including Tripp and Parkston.
Hail ranging from quarter sized to golf ball sized was reported as storms moved through the northern Black Hills.
