UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning over Northern Hills area, report of damaging tornado near Hulett

UPDATE: 9:35 p.m. — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued over the Northern Hills area.

Whitewood, Sturgis and Tilford are all included. Winds up to 50 mph and quarter sized hail are possible. The warning is in effect until 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Additionally, the National Weather Service says it’s received reports of a tornado five miles north of Hulett, along Highway 112.

Reports say numerous trees are down in the area, including over the highway.

UPDATE: 8:41 p.m. — The latest update on severe weather happening in the region.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A tornado warning has been issued for northeastern Wyoming in the Hulett area. The warning covers north central Crook County. Anyone in the area should take precautions.

The warning is valid until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The storm is moving east at about 35 mph and could move into areas in South Dakota in the next fifteen to thirty minutes. Lime sized hail possible.
