Timmer, Mors named South Dakota Miss and Mr. Basketball
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Each year in South Dakota, more than 3,500 young men and women play varsity high school basketball.
Of that group, Hansen Anderson Basketball recognizes 20 of those players, who are then considered for the title of Miss and Mr. Basketball.
Haleigh Timmer, South Dakota Miss Basketball
This year, Haleigh Timmer from St. Thomas More has been named South Dakota Miss Basketball for 2021.
She led the Cavaliers to a 22-3 record this past season and a fourth place finish at the State ‘A’ Girls Basketball Tournament.
Timmer averaged 20.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game this past year.
Over Timmer’s five year career, her teams had a winning record of 108-13.
She will continue her basketball career at South Dakota State University.
Matthew Mors, South Dakota Mr. Basketball
Matthew Mors from Yankton was named South Dakota Mr. Basketball.
This past season, he averaged 24.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
Mors graduates with 2,707 points, the fourth-most all-time and the most in Class AA.
He also set 10 school records at Yankton High School.
Mors was the first ever eighth grader to be selected to the Class AA All-State Team.
Mors plans to play Division I basketball at the University of Wisconsin.
