Times Square wraps up a wild night of celebrations and a recap of the Deadwood ball drop
DEADWOOD, SD — Hundreds turned out in Deadwood last night to ring in the new year with the ball drop at the historic Silverado-Franklin Hotel.
It was the 26th year that the hotel has hosted a New Year’s Eve party and ball drop to mark the start of the new year.
And in New York City clean-up crews began clearing the streets of confetti, trash and barriers as soon as revelers had moved out of Times Square, getting “the city that never sleeps” ready for business once again.
Close to a million people left behind an estimate 57-tons of garbage at the Square. That along with some 3,000 pounds of rain-soaked confetti left quite a mess for hundreds of crews to clean up.
Crews worked with the goal of having the streets completely back to normal by sunrise.
