The Midnight Star Gaming Emporium is expected to reopen this year

DEADWOOD, S.D. — The Midnight Star Gaming Emporium located in downtown Deadwood has been purchased by a private company and is expected to reopen this year.

The Midnight Star was previously owned by Kevin Costner, and it was sold for around $1.6 million. The building has multiple floors which previously housed a gaming complex, a restaurant and a sports bar, and the building is equipped with two kitchens. The reopening is expected to create a significant economic impact for Deadwood, especially because the town recently just added Outlaw Square which is expected to amp up their tourism and entertainment revenue.

“They would say that they’re just over the moon that the lights are getting turned back on, I think that everyone just views this as a positive to have this happening” said Kevin Wagner, Executive Director for Deadwood-Lead Economic Development.

The new layout, if any, has yet to be disclosed.
