The Journey Museum commemorates 1972 Flood anniversary

RAPID CITY, S.D.– Rapid City has a series of events scheduled to commemorate the anniversary of the 1972 Flood, starting with the Journey Museum.

Journey Museum SignA new exhibit shares the story of the flood and the aftermath while a grandson of flood survivors, composer Alex Massa, gave a special performance. It’s his hope to help preserve the memories for future generations.

“In order to understand how the city has developed, and why it has developed in the way it has, you need to understand the history of the flood,” Massa explained. “And one of the major parts of this performance is bringing awareness to all of the stories that were lost.”

The Journey Museum will hold more events throughout the week, along with others around the city.
