The Gift of Giving

Holiday pop-up shop allows residents of Cornerstone Women and Children's Home to get gifts for loved ones

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Volunteers with the Cornerstone Women and Children’s Home are making Christmas a more joyous experience for their residents.

For the second year, volunteers put together a pop-up shop for the residents to shop for gifts for their loved ones.

The residents often do not have the means to purchase gifts for Christmas, so this is a chance for them pick out and give something to their siblings, parents, grandparents or teachers.

The temporary shop will open Dec. 15 and is set up much like a department store, where the residents can pick three items and then have them gift wrapped.

Those wanting to donate to the cause are asked to give small, new or like-new gifts valued at $10, as well as wrapping paper, gifts bags, bows and gift tags to the Women and Children’s Home on Fox Run Drive.

Danielle Giuseffi, shop volunteer, says, “I got the idea for the Cornerstone Women and Children’s pop up shop when I realized that my daughter enjoys giving gifts even more than she does receiving them. And I thought, what a great thing to do for the holidays to actually allow everyone at Women and Children’s to be able to shop for that perfect gift to give them the gift of giving.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Cornerstone Women and Children’s Home on Fox Run Drive. For more information, call Deb at 718-8712.
