The Erik Files: What will 6:00 PM look like for the rest of 2020?
Our last 7:00 PM Sunset is next week.
**THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On this day in 1980: A hailstorm dumped 1.75-inch hail in and around the Moorcroft area, but did not cause reportable damage to the area.**
Well, if you’ve noticed since June 20th, our days have been getting shorter. Our sunset went from 8:39 PM on June 20th to 7:12 PM which takes place tonight. Our last 7:00 PM Sunset will take place next week, September 17th to be exact. The next 7:00 PM sunset will be on March 16th, 2021.
WHAT WILL 6:00 PM LOOK LIKE?
Well, let’s take a look at the graphic below.
So to the left is tonight’s sunset at 7:12 PM. On October 11th, it goes to 6:17 PM. Then it drops all the way to 4:31 PM. The reason is because Daylight Saving Time ends November 1st at 2:00 AM. That’s when we fall back an hour. (And to quote a good friend in the TV business, “I will be staying up until then to make sure things go smooth.”) By December 11th, our sunset is at 4:14 PM. Not a fan of the early sunsets? Well I do have some good news: The 1st day of Winter is Monday, December 21st, which on that day the days start to get longer. The Sunset on December 31st is at 4:24 PM.
LET’S DIVE INTO THE FORECAST FOR THIS WEEKEND!
Starting with today, the clouds will remain in play for the remainder of the day. Temps will stay in the low 60’s. Some places will struggle to get into the 60’s. Here’s your Hour by Hour forecast as we roll into the afternoon and early evening hours. Hey, not a bad way to start the weekend.
SPEAKING OF THE WEEKEND
If you have plans to get out this weekend, it’s going to be an overall nice weekend with temps hovering around normal (which is 78 degrees). The warming trend will continue with temps going into the Mid 80’s for Sunday! Abundant Sunshine will be the main player this weekend. As mentioned earlier, a nice weekend is on taps. I would definitely get out and enjoy it.
THIS WEEKEND ACROSS THE BLACK HILLS:
Pretty much the same story: 78’s & 80’s will be the rule with lots of sunshine. Some places will see temps in the low 70’s. The outlying areas could see temps in the upper 60’s.
BLACK HILLS FORECAST FOR SUNDAY:
We will warm up with temps going in the 70’s & 80’s. Some places towards the Wall, Interior, and Hot Springs area will be in the upper 80’s, very close to 90 degrees with plenty of sunshine!
HERE’S THE 7-DAY FORECAST
